Extract from my EPQ Project

EPQ

During the first year of my A-levels, I was able to complete an Extended Project Qualification. This was a fantastic opportunity for me, as it allowed me to pursue creating a large-scale project of my own idea which would also garner me a full academic qualification. For years, I had always wanted to create a long-form youtube video documentary. I love watching them and always have, so it was a dream of mine to create one of my own. Upon discovering that I could create a video like this for an EPQ, I chose to do so without hesitation. While the majority of my peers created simple, 5000 word investigatory essays, I constructed and wrote a 9500 word script, then voice recorded all of it, and constructed it together alongside recorded game footage to create a full 51-minute long YouTube video essay. On the left is a short extract from the beginning of the video, taken from a short comedy sketch placed at the beginning of the video. The video itself is a study of immersion in videogames, and the short sketch mocks immersion breaking moments in games. I enjoyed making this project the whole way, and hardly felt like it was work at all. My planning and determination to create this above and beyond project eventually earned me a mark of 38/50, and a B+ grade.
