As time has passed, I have found lots of patterns and tropes in both film and stories in general. Some of these are classics and always good (like bad rom-coms and ‘the power of friendship’) but others start to get very repetitious very quickly. Postmodernist Theory proposes that everything has already been made and all existing products made past now are imitations of past things in one way or another. I greatly argue against this theory as I believe there still are many more combinations of genres and portrayals of them that have yet to be discovered. For one, I’ve always disliked the way classic superheros in their movies fight. A lot of scenes in many movies show characters that can fly just boringly flying into their enemy back and forth with little to no impact shown in them. I think that sharper movements and the adaptation of ‘impact frames’ into strong fighters could greatly increase the icons showing their strength to an audience. On the left are a few short reels I have made where I have experimented with impact frames in real life as opposed to animated media.
